Last update :

This local rice bowl dish is served in the Aomori Gyosai Center at a 5-minute walk from Aomori Station. You purchase a bowl with cooked rice and add your favorite toppings as much as you wish at the market selling raw fish, deli food, etc. to make your own bowl.

In the market, nearly 25 shops stand, offering fresh seafood, fish grilled over charcoal, etc. Seafood variety changes each season - rock oyster, sea urchin, tuna, bonito, anglerfish, crab, balloon fish and more.

To purchase toppings, you first purchase food tickets - 10 tickets for 2,000 yen, and 5 tickets for 1,100 yen. Then, you exchange the tickets with toppings - a regular serving of rice for 1 ticket, a big serving of tuna for 3 tickets, etc. Haggle for extra toppings with shop clerks who speak Tsugaru dialect in the lively, fun market. You can buy extra tickets for the amount of toppings you wish if you want a fancy bowl.
