The Benishidarezakura (weeping cherry tree) is loved by local residents as a symbol of Miharu Town. It is said that the name "Benishidarezakura" comes from its location in the Taki district, where the small flowers that fill the branches extending in all directions look like a cascading waterfall. The tree is estimated to be over 1,000 years old. The giant tree, 13.5 m tall, with branches stretching 25 m east to west and 20 m north to south, is a sight to behold when in full bloom, and is one of the "3 Great Cherry Trees of Japan". It is the first cherry tree to be designated as a national natural monument, and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2022.

The best time to view the cherry blossoms is from early to mid-April, attracting many visitors every year. Walkways have been built around the trees so that visitors can enjoy the cherry blossoms from various angles, and at night they are illuminated. The Takizakura that emerge in the darkness are spectacularly different from those seen in the daytime.

There are approximately 10,000 cherry trees in Miharu Town, including 70 weeping cherry trees more than 100 years old. During the cherry blossom viewing season, it is recommended to visit the surrounding cherry trees in addition to the Miharu Takizakura.
