Mikurigaike Onsen

Mikurigaike Onsen is a solitary mountain lodge frequented not only by visitors to the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route but also by climbers heading to the surrounding peaks. About a 15-minute walk along a mountain trail from Murodo Station and Murodo Bus Stop, it boasts breathtaking views of the Tateyama mountain range. At an elevation of 2,410 meters, it is Japan's highest natural hot spring facility. Due to heavy snowfall, it operates only from mid-April to late November each year.

The accommodation offers two room types: private 6-tatami mat rooms and shared rooms. Space is limited, so it’s best to book early through the official website, especially during peak seasons.

The hot spring water is sourced from Jigokudani (Hell Valley), one of Tateyama’s most famous scenic spots. It’s a 100% natural, free-flowing hot spring with no added water or heating, highly praised by hot spring enthusiasts. The water is a simple acidic sulfur spring, known for its strong sulfur aroma, milky white color, and smooth, soft texture. Relax and soak your cares away while gazing out at the surrounding natural beauty.

Meals feature a variety of mountain and seafood delicacies, presented in traditional Japanese style with a focus on seasonal ingredients. Guests can also opt for local specialties like deep-fried genge fish from Toyama Bay or the house-made firefly squid pickled in soy sauce—a delightful addition to your dining experience.
