Wakasa Takahama Fireworks Festival

The annual fireworks festival, adored as a summer tradition in Wakasa-Takahama, takes place along the coast from Wakasa Wada Beach to Shiroyama Beach. The entire 4-kilometer stretch of beach serves as seating for visitors, allowing everyone to enjoy the fireworks without the usual crowds. You can lay out a picnic sheet and relax while watching the display from your favorite spot.

The underwater fireworks launched right in front of the　beach deliver an impressive impact, with the sound and vibrations felt directly. The performance features creative firework design, including blue and white fireworks that evokes the image of Takahama's white sandy beaches and sea. The grand finale is particularly stunning, with 3,500 fireworks lighting up the sky, including 30 consecutive underwater star mines.

On the day of the fireworks festival, the beachside huts remain open late into the night, allowing you to enjoy food and drinks while watching the display. It's also recommended to view the fireworks from the Azuchi-yama observatory, which is a bit further from the main venue. From there, you can enjoy a beautiful collaboration of the nightscape along Takahama's coastline and the fireworks.
