Senkakuwan Ageshima Yuen

Breathtaking views to rival the fjords of Northern Europe from aboard a glass-bottomed boat or observation deck.

Last update :

Senkaku Bay, located on Sado Island, is a scenic spot where five small bays stretch along a 3-kilometer coastline. The 30-meter-high cliffs are often compared to Norway's renowned Hardangerfjord stand ranked as one of Japan's top 100 coastal views.

Senkakuwan Ageshima Yuen is a tourist facility offering panoramic views of the bay. One of its highlights is crossing the Machiko Bridge, made famous by the film "Kimi no Na wa" from the Showa era, to reach Yajima, where you can enjoy stunning views from the observation deck. The glass-bottomed boat provides a unique perspective of the underwater scenery and schools of fish, while the boat ride also features impressive cliffs up close, accompanied by lively narration. Visitors can also feed black-tailed gulls as they fly near the boat.

In 2023, the park's aquarium was revamped into the Agejima Marine Digital Museum, where visitors can explore the marine life of the nearby waters through cutting-edge digital displays.

A café in the park offers local specialties such as grilled turban shell from Sado's sea, Burikko minced fish burgers made with local yellowtail, and hot dogs featuring Sado-made sausage, which won an award in a European competition. Local products and original items are also available at the gift shop.
