Niigata Furumachi Geigi

A proud 200-year legacy since the late Edo period awaits in Niigata City's Furumachi district, an area celebrated as one of Japan's premier geisha quarters, alongside Kyoto's Gion and Tokyo's Shinbashi. Even today, geigi (geisha) continue to perform in this charming area, allowing visitors to enjoy traditional entertainment at local ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurants).

Performances include singing, dancing, and shamisen music, all perfected through rigorous training in Ichiyama-ryu, a Niigata-based school of Japanese classical dance. To arrange for geigi (geisha) to attend an ozashiki (traditional banquet), select a ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurant) and communicate your preferences regarding the number of geigi, duration, and budget. The ryotei will handle the arrangements accordingly. Please note that fees vary depending on whether the ryotei is a member of the Niigata Sangyo Cooperative Association.
