Kakita-gawa springs

The source of clear water is melted snow from Mt. Fuji and these springs are called one of the “Japan’s Three Great Clear Streams”.

Kakita River flows near Route 1 and has a clean water stream designated as “The state's natural monument”. This river is known to flow near springs of melted water from Mt. Fuji, and was chosen as one of “Japan’s 100 Remarkable Waters”, “Top 100 list of Japanese nature that should be preserved in the 21st century”, and so on.

You will meet lush greenery and see rare creatures including Japanese Water-crowfoot, genji-botaru, and kingfisher when you walk along the path. During the holidays, this area is a popular spot for many visitors going on a picnic or walk.

Restaurants and souvenir shops are line-ups around Kakita River Park, and their special products are specially made in Shimizu-town only such as malted rice, green rice, and some souvenirs made with water from the river.
