Yuyado, Souan is located in the Yunokawa Onsen, known as one of the three hot springs for beauty effects in Japan. The kominka (traditional town residence) from the Edo Tempo period situated in a tranquil rural area was transformed into this 17 room onsen ryokan.
This ryokan consists of three buildings. The "Kominka no hanare no yado" is equipped with beautiful antique furnishings and has a spacious half-open-air bath filled with pure hot spring water, a wooden deck, and a private garden. The "Shiunkaku" rooms are on the first floor where traditional Izumo architecture and European antique furniture are combined; the second floor has aged black beams and pillars, lattice doors, and bamboo blinds. The“Iyashi no yado” consists of rooms facing a magnificent garden, beauifuly illuminated at night.
There are five private baths with different atmospheres, all of which have free-flowing hot spring water, undeluted, and without additional heating. They are available anytime from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m the following morning. A hot spring expert is always on hand to answer questions about the quality of the spring and bathing methods. Six guest rooms are available with their own private bath.
Enjoy creative Japanese cuisine in the restaurant furnitshed with antique furniture, and excellent dishes using Izumo ingredients inclusing bluefin tuna, Matsuba crab, rock oysters, Shimane wagyu beef, and ayu fish from the Hii River. Try it with sake from the San’in region especially recommended by their own sake expert, as well as a Shimane saka expert.
