Shirotai Ranch (Management Building Observation Deck)

A newly constructed indoor observation deck at the ranch. By night, it’s also known as a prime spot for viewing the "Ura Yakei" (Seven-Star Night View).

Last update :

Shirotai Ranch (Management Building Observation Deck) was established in 1920 as a village-owned pasture and wild grass ranch. Today, the expansive ranch covers about 160 hectares and is used as a town-managed ranch. The peaceful scenery of grazing cattle spreads across the land, and in 2012, an indoor observation deck was built at an altitude of about 500 meters.

From the large windows of the observation deck, visitors can enjoy stunning views: to the south lies Mount Hakodate, and to the southwest, the Ono Plain stretches out. During the day, you can see the lush green meadows of early summer or the vibrant red foliage of autumn, creating picturesque landscapes. At night, it’s a renowned spot for the "Ura Yakei" (Seven-Star Night View), offering a dazzling, jewel-like nightscape.

The observation deck provides tourist brochures and has a free rest area, making it a perfect stop during a drive. However, be aware that the road is closed from mid-November to late April due to snowfall.
