Last update :

Located about a 5-minute drive from the Churaumi Aquarium in Ocean Expo Park, this picturesque path runs through the traditional village of Bise, known for its grid-like layout. Stretching approximately 1 kilometer, the path is flanked by thousands of Fukugi trees standing 10 to 20 meters tall, creating an enchanting atmosphere brimming with Ryukyuan charm.

The Fukugi tree, whose name means "tree of fortune" in Japanese, has been cherished for centuries as a symbol of good luck and as a natural windbreak. Today, these trees still surround the 250 homes in the area, some of which boast Fukugi trees estimated to be over 300 years old.

The overlapping foliage of the trees creates cool, shaded pathways where time seems to slow down, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing stroll while soaking in the tropical resort vibes. For added fun, visitors can explore the area via water buffalo carts, or rent bicycles or kick scooters from nearby shops.

Don’t miss the "Couple's Fukugi Trees" near the entrance of the path, a local power spot said to bring happiness and harmony to relationships.
