Utsubuki Park

Utsubuki Park is renowned as one of the premier cherry blossom sites in the San'in region, with the park coming alive with cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring. The park includes playgrounds, a baseball field, and tennis courts, making it a beloved relaxation spot for the locals.

Utsubuki Park was landscaped in 1904 to commemorate Emperor Taisho's visit to the San'in region. Inside the park, the 'Hiryukaku' pavilion is a nationally registered tangible cultural property. Additionally, the petting zoo area houses small animals such as bantam chickens and rabbits, allowing visitors to see these animals up close. There is also a monkey enclosure on the east side of the square.

One unique experience at Utsubuki Park is using 'hodoki paper.' Visitors can write past regrets and future wishes on special paper, and float it in the park's 'Hagoromo Pond.' It is believed that as the paper dissolves in the water, so do the past failures and memories. Hodoki paper can be purchased nearby at 'Red Tile Building No. 1' or 'Kurayoshi Shirakabe Dozogun Tourist Information Center' for 400 yen, including a charm.
